Show off!

妹妹 can now climb up the stairs very well without support. I still do not dare to let her try climbing down as it’s more dangerous. She can however get down on her own holding the railing. She no longer needs me to hold her. In fact, she doesn’t want me to hold her. *hao lian!* (show off !)

Styrofoam Cube Puzzle

The garang guni boy strikes again! My boy saw some styrofoam cubes when we were in the mini-mart. No prize for guessing what he did next. If you said he went to ask if he could have it, you are right! He took home 7! Only 5 were in good condition to do this craft. We kept the not so perfect ones for future use.

Materials needed:

• Styrofoam cubes (at least 4)
• Markers

How to do it:

1. Place 4 cubes to form a square.
2. Either mommy hold the cubes together or use tape to secure.
3. Draw and colour on the surface.
4. Select random side and repeat till all 6 sides are done.

Now have fun with the puzzle!

Sweet 哥哥

Managed take a shot of 哥哥 wearing sandals for 妹妹. He has been doing this for quite some time, usually while waiting for me to get his water bottle for school. So sweet!

Bye-bye toys

Last Sunday, we went to Ikea and bought a shelf. It was for the playroom to keep all the toys. It's better than stacking all the carton boxes but of course it will not be able to house all the toys we have. I was planning to sell some of the toys that the kids are not so interested in Ebay but papa said give them away, don’t waste time. In the end, we gave away 4 fruit carton boxes of toys away. There are still boxes of bulky toys kept elsewhere. Papa said no more toys buying unless it’s a special occasion. *bleh*

Revamped Refrigerator - The DIY way

I recently removed all the fridge magnets for cleaning. After removing them, it reminded me how ugly my fridge is. It’s all covered with the stain from the magnets. Patches of black marks. Now I remember why I still had those magnets. I couldn't stand the sight of it. I just had to do something about it.

Guess what? I found cheap wallpaper and paste over it. Looks new now! 哥哥 asked why the fridge looks like the floor. Bleh!

Ai ya! It's cheap so there ain't many choices. It will either look like the floor or the cupboard. This one matches better lah.

Good traits, good boy

After eavesdropping on some aunties in the market :P, I realized 哥哥 could actually do a lot more than some of the children his age. I think this got to do us not having a domestic helper or an elderly person at home. Hence, there isn’t someone to reply on. Although I do admit that some of the stuff he could do was through constant pushing and reminding. Sometimes I wonder if I have pushed him too hard. But it’s for his good in the long run. I just wished he could do the same in his studies.

Here are some of the daily stuff he has been doing since he was/before four:

• Change and bath on his own
• Put his dirty laundry in the laundry area
• Fold and keep his own clothes
• Make his own bed
• Pack the playroom at the end of the day
• Order his food with specific wants and don’t wants
• Clear his dishes after eating

I hope he will influence his sister with his good traits because he sure can influence her with his bad ones. Hahaha! Anyway, I must remind myself to tell him I’m really proud of him!

Me: Did you climb to turn on the lights again? It’s dangerous you know?
Son : No, I didn’t climb. See? (stretching his arm) I can reach it (the switch).
Me: Wah! You can really reach it!
Son: Yah what! I’m so tall already.


Hmm. Very soon my boy will be taller than me. I hope so!

This Little Piggy goes to the bank

Since it has been a while since did any craft, I thought I’d do 2 crafts with him today. I don’t intend to paint this but Warren insisted to have his piggy pink. Told him the paint will get scratch off easier. Oh well! It’s his choice. This makes a nice deco for the year of the pig!

Materials required:

• Plastic bottle
• 2 clothes pegs, removed into 4 pieces
• 2 buttons
• 1 pipe cleaner
• Some sponge
• Strong Glue or strong double-sided tape
• Marker

How to do it:

1. Use glue of double-sided tape to stick the buttons as eyes.
2. Stick each half of the clothes pegs as legs.
3. Cut the sponge into 2 triangles and stick as ears.
4. Twirl the pipe cleaner round a pencil and stick it as tail.
5. If you want to use it as a piggy bank, mommy cut an opening at the top.
6. Use a marker to draw the snort on the cap.
7. If you want to paint it, paint now and let it dried.

Note:
I would strongly ask mommies not to let their child paint it. The paint will get scraped off easily and it won't look nice after that. If you want to, do not dilute the paint. Otherwise, the paint will not stay on the plastic.


Oh, we had forgotten to paint the snort. Hehehe.

Camouflage Mask

I finally found time to do craft with my son today. Poor boy! Has been asking me to do it with him for some time. He wanted to paint. Okay. Here’s one he can paint.

Materials required:

• Paper plate
• Elastic Band
• Colour medium (we used paint)

How to do it:

1. Cut hole for the eyes.
2. You can choose to cut paper plate to some other shapes like we did or just leave it as it is.
3. Design your mask (we didn’t have too because my son wanted his 'face' painted like the soldier uncle on TV)
4. Start painting.
5. Set aside to dry.
6. Punch a hole of the side of the mask.
7. Tie an elastic band to it.
8. Your kid can have his own mask as disguise now.

PC Hiccups

I'm finally able to use my PC and surf the Net too. The doctor ‘gave’ me a modem. I going to get my modem repaired and return this to him. I don’t want to buy a new modem leh.

My PC is not really back like before. I still need to do settings to my PC. It's sort of screwed-up. I'm now surfing the Net with everything in Chinese characters which I really had a hard time reading. I have to reload all the other software I need to use. I haven't even checked my emails. I don’t even dare to go there now. I think at least 200 emails!

Now what?

My PC is back but I still can't surf the net. Why? This time my modem is down. Urgh! Why so sway? Who is going to help me send the modem down to Macpherson for servicing? So far! I know I’m going to have a very bad Year of the Pig but that's another one more month to go! I'm destined to get rid of my addict for Net surfing. Sigh!

It's back!

My PC is back and doctor managed to save my data. But I still couldn't surf the net. Doctor is coming back tomorrow to check if it's a line or modem problem. Darn!

More Cards, please!

I'm going to make more cards for 妹妹 when the PC returns. Tested her these few days and knew all the words of the cards I did for her. Wow! This time I going to include Chinese cards too!

Pray-pray!

My PC is not back. The doctor said he will only finish running it this evening. He will know by then is he is able to save my data. I'm praying!

He has gone on Auto mode

哥哥 went to complete his school homework without me nagging at him. All I did was remind him that he had homework from school. The next minute, he showed me his homework and asked me to check if it was correct. Hmm. Hope he will be the same next time.

Phone repaired

Sometime back 妹妹 threw my mobile and damage it. It could not work, just gave me a white blank screen. Today, she threw it again (because it wasn't working) and miraculously it was 'repaired'. 妹妹 had redeemed herself!

Withdrawal Symptoms

I'm beginning to have PC withdrawal symptoms. Urgh! It's awful!

My PC is sick!

I had a ‘sway’ day. My PC was infected by virus. When the anti-virus software couldn't clean it, I accidentally click on the ‘rename’ button and that’s it. I could turn on my PC because one of the files was missing. I did a system recovery and it still couldn’t work. Darn!

So it's either reformatting the PC or call in the PC doctor. I can't reform my PC. I have too many previous data in it. No choice but to spend some money. Now I hope my hubby will get me the external hard disk I asked ages ago.

Juice Carton Pen-holder with Cover

哥哥 has been bugging me to do craft but I just can’t find the energy to do. Last night 妹妹 slept early so I did this quick craft with him.

Materials needed:

• 1 milk/fruit juice carton.
• 1 piece of cardboard
• Double-sided tape
• Stickers

How to do it:

1. Cut the bottom and top of the carton according to desired height (ours was 9cm for bottom and 5 cm for top).
2. Cut the piece of cardboard according to size of bottom carton PLUS 1cm (our size is 10cm by 29cm)
3. Put double-sided tape on the inner rim of the bottom carton.
4. Stick the cardboard inside.
5. Decorate the carton (we used stickers).

Now your child has a pen-holder with cover. Girls can use it to keep hair accessories!

Computer Games

Since Wednesday, I let 哥哥 play on the computer for an hour after he had practice writing. He actually likes the game, Clifford Phonics. It’s one of the computer games I bought last week as it was on offer, $10 per game. Hope he will learn something there. Well, at least he will practice his writing.

Noooo, don’t throw!

妹妹 threw my mobile phone! It was my last year's Valentine's Day's present from 爸爸. It’s still a baby! It’s a goner now! *Sob*

I tried to look for the warranty card so maybe I can get it repaired free and I couldn’t find it. Sob! Sob!

New School Term, New Start

哥哥 is start his new school term tomorrow. He will be in K1. As usual he thought he is switching back to Kinderland Kindergarten. I told him he only goes there for Holiday Activities. He will still go to Hope Kindergarten. He wasn't that happy. Sulked for a while.

I had a very tiring December School Holidays. When school starts. It will be more tiring. Sending 哥哥 to school with 妹妹 in tow. Go marketing and rush home to make lunch. Then fetch 哥哥 from school with 妹妹 again. Let them eat, play, bath and try to get them to sleep before rushing to make dinner. Sigh! Back to my robotic SAHM lifestyle. My only hope is that it will not rain like it did last month.
