Who's going to cook for me?

I have been nose bleeding on-off for quite awhile. I still remember the 1st time it happened was I was angry with 哥哥 but I didn't want to flare out. I just contained my angry and before I knew it, blood was dripping out of my right nostril. Eeeee ... From then on, it will happen whether I'm angry or not. Scary right?

Anyway, it happened yesterday and today again. This time 哥哥 saw it too. It just happened I was angry with him when I caught him using a bolster to hit 妹妹 out of fun and she almost fell.

妈妈 : You see. Every time you don't listen and make me angry this will happen. What happens if I die one day out of anger?
哥哥 : If you die, then who's going to cook for me?!

Sigh! See lah! All he cares if who's going to cook for him. Poor me. So sad!

After some time, my nose bled again and he saw it,'I didn't make you angry now, why still got blood coming out?'

Of course he apologised for being naughty and was forgiven. And so, the bleeding stop. hahaha ...

Anyways, I did see a doctor on my nose bleeding problem before Chinese New Year and he said nothing can be done! 无药可就啊!hahaha ... Seriously, there isn't medicine for it. It's just that the blood vessels (in my nose) where the bleeding starts are sensitive and burst easily. If it happens too often he suggested for me to see a Specialist or do a check up, in case it's .... Cancer!! but he doubt it's that lah. Sigh. I'm going to see Doc again today to do the arrangement. Don't want to drag anymore because it's happening to often.

Shh! Shhhh!

Finally recalled what I wanted to put down about 哥哥. This happened yesterday on the way home from school. This was the conversation after chatting with him on other stuff ...

妈妈 : So, have you been a good boy in class today?
哥哥 : Yes! I'm a good boy! Everyday!
妈妈 : Really?
哥哥 : Really! (Then he went on telling me what happened in his class today.)
妈妈 : Ah! Mrs Eunice is there. (His form teacher and 2 other teachers were walking in front of us, going for lunch.) I ask her if you are a good boy.
哥哥 : Shh! Shh! Shh! (Jumping about. I was caught by surprised.)
妈妈 : Why? Why? What happened? (Eyes open wide)
哥哥 : I .... a bit naughty lah. Only a little bit lah.
妈妈 : LOL

Ai yo! What to do with him huh?

Personal toy

I sew 妹妹 a toy when she was a baby and was disappointed that she didn't like. But recently I don't know why she suddenly went to look for it and would carry it with her everywhere. Sometimes, when I push her in the pram, I could hear her counting the buttons on the cube. Hopefully, I will be able to keep this toy when she out-grew it as a memento.

Tag: Who is the 1st Blogger you’ve met?

I was tagged by MontessoriMum twice in a day. hehehe... Hmm ... I can't really do this tag because I can't really answer them. I haven't given the thought of meeting up with bloggers I meet in virtual world. Anyways, here goes ...

1. Who is the first blogger you’ve met?
Joanne. I introduced her to blogging with Multiply.com and we see each other in our kid's school. Like that can?

2. Who is the ‘most wanted to meet blogger for you’?
Probably, Mdm 2395 because our girls share the same name. It would be interesting to call out the name and see the reaction.

3. Who is the ‘I can meet, want to meet but somehow never got to meet’ blogger?
Hmm ... I think quite a few. Singapore isn't that big. Maybe, I didn't have in mind to meet blogging friends in person.

4. Who are the group of bloggers you most wanted to meet?
Haven't thought of any now.

5. Do you have any bloggers/blog readers that you wish to meet right now?
Haven't cross my mind leh.

I'm tagging ...
Mary has a Little lamb
Wenzel's Little Notes
Qianyi's World
Life.Passion.Travel & more
Baby Talk

Hugs and more hugs!

妹妹 has been doing this for a long time and I think she enjoys doing it. Do what? Hugging! We, 爸爸,哥哥 and me, would sit in 3 different area in a form of a triangle and 妹妹 will run to each of us shouting hugggggg. Sometimes, she ran so fast, we had to fall back in case she get hurt 'banging' onto us. She is not the only one enjoying this, we all are!

Tag: Safeguard the Web for Children

I have been tagged by Teczcape and MontessoriMum to participated in a campaign, Safeguard the Web for Children.

Mummies out there will agree that the very 1st thing we worry when our kids surf the net is porn sites. This campaign, Safeguard the Web for Children, is a request all the “adult site” webmasters to have a password-protected login on porn sites for all the explicit materials and not to have “free clips”, “free tours” and/or “free pics” without login.

I'm not sure if this will work but it's for a good cause. So I'm calling out to to CutiePrincessMummy, DesperateMummy, LZmommy, MamaBliss, Mdm 2359 and all mommies reading this to join the campaign too.

Desperate Housewife

Desperate House 3 is returning on 5 March on every Mondays! I missed the whole of season 2 because 妹妹 was still a baby then and was forever asking for milk and 哥哥 was also forever asking me to accompany him to sleep (because I'm always with 妹妹 most of the time). Hopefully, I'll get to watch it this time.

I remembered in the last episode of season 2, Mike was being ran over by a car. So what happened next. Read here if you must! Since I was there, I took a quiz to see which Desperate Housewife I am. I'm Susan! And I thought I was Lynette in season 1!! LOL

Food Recall

The Agri-Food & Veterinary Authority (of Singapore) has ordered a recall on the following two products:

So, either throw them away or get a refund! Contamination is suspected for both products!

Squeak, squeak, squeak ... says the Pig?

哥哥 was sitting on the breakfast table watching me preparing the bacon for dinner.

哥哥: 妈妈,bacon is bacon. But why you always say squeaky bacon?
妈妈: LOL. No, not squeaky bacon. It's STReaky bacon. .... Still laughing. This bacon is of a strip of fat and a strip of meat together. They call that streaks. So streaky bacon.
哥哥: Oh! Okay. Bacon not mice. How to squeak?
妈妈: LOL. Yah, mice squeak. Bacon doesn't squeak.

Speak more, please.

Although 妹妹 can read words but she still baby talks a lot. If not, it's only a single word followed by baby talks.

I've been waiting for her to speak the proper language. The best she can do now is probably 2 words type, 'Don't want' and 'See you' and the only 3 words, 'I love you' *grin*

Today, Mrs Seah, 哥哥's school administrator gave 妹妹 a cupcake. I asked her, 'Is the cake is nice?' and she told me 'Nice cake'. That's new! Hopefully, I'll get to heard more from her soon.

Orange Basket

Yesterday, we made 2 'baskets' from hard paper to hold oranges for my boy to bring to school to greet his teachers today. This is a rather easy craft.

Materials needed:
  • Cardboard, to be cut into 8 strips of 2.5cm X 20cm after coloring
  • Colouring medium (we used crayon)
  • 2 paper fasteners
How to do it:

  1. Colour the piece of cardboard. I used 2 pieces of 5"x8" index cards.
  2. Mommy cut the coloured cardboard into 10 strips.
  3. Use a hole puncher to punch a hole on both ends.
  4. Use a fastener to hold all strips together on one end.
  5. Leave the first top one out.
  6. Now gather the remaining 9 strips in reverse order. (ie, the 1st strip will now be at the bottom, the 2nd strip will be on top of the 1st strip and so on)
  7. Lastly, put the remaining strip last.
  8. Put the fastener thru the hole of all the strips.
  9. Fasten the fastener. You should see a half sphere shape now.
  10. Pull the last strip up. That will be the handle.
  11. You can put your oranges in now.
春节快乐!万事如意!

Chinese New Year visitings with the kids

I didn't manage to finish all my cleaning before Chinese New Year. But at least the place is clean and neat enough to receive visitors. My younger sister came yesterday afternoon with her boyfriend and 爸爸's mahjong kakis came over for their annual mahjong session (currently still in battle as I type!!) hahaha ... I'm expecting my classmates this coming Saturday for a gathering at my place. So I got to maintain current condition of the house *bleh*

Anyway, we were out visiting for the past 2 days. It was really tiring for all of us. Travelling from one place to another with 2 active kids! Phew! I'm just glad we didn't have that much relatives to visit. So, we can finally rest today. My only regret is I'm not able to take photographs of the kids with the grandparents because the kids, especially 妹妹, were always running about. Sigh! Even taking a family portrait is difficult. Can you imagine this is the only decent looking photograph we managed to take?! 爸爸 said he looked goondo in this picture but the rest of us looks good what. hehehe ....

♡ Happy Valentine's Day ♡

Two weeks ago while shopping in Takashimaya, a promoter gave me a sample of Kenzo's latest creation, Amour. Loved it. But being a stingy SAHM (that's what 爸爸 said) , I rather spend the money on the family rather then 'luxury' items (to me).

I had a pleasant surprise when 爸爸 came back from his business trip to Malaysia. Guess what he got me for Valentine's Day? ^_-

Have a very Happy Valentine's day, Everyone! >>--(¯`·.·´¯) -->

So difficult to eat meh?

Meal time for 哥哥 is hair pulling time for me. He takes a long time to eat and most of the time he can't finish it. Some times I wonder if I have given him too much to eat but how can he be eating the portion 妹妹 is eating? Some times, 妹妹 even eats more than him.

Recently, I made up my mind to try making his meals interesting (was inspired by the bentos Japanese mummies made). Yes, more time is spent to prepare the food. But you know what? The effort paid off. I had made bento inspired meals for 哥哥 a few times now and he finished all each time. He still takes a longer time (compared to 妹妹) to finish it but at least I don't have to nag at him to eat. It also helps to make him eats vegetables.

So having interesting looking food does help to improve appetite? Let's just hope this will last.

Ang Pao Fire Cracker

This is the second Chinese New Year craft we did today. This is much easier then the 1st one.

Materials needed:
  • 2 toilet paper tube
  • 2 Ang Pao for the 'body'
  • 1 - 2 Ang Pao for the top and bottom
  • 1 pipe cleaner, cut into 2
  • Double-sided tape
How to do it:
  1. Tear open all the Ang Paos. It should be open-up.
  2. Cut open 1 -2 Ang Paos to 4 pieces big enough to cover the top and bottom of the tube.
  3. Poke a pipe cleaner through the middle of 1 piece of the cut Ang Pao and secure with some tape.
  4. Use double sided tape to go round the top and bottom edge of the tube.
  5. Wrap a piece of the cut Ang Pao paper over one end of the tube.
  6. Wrap the piece of cut Ang Pao paper with the pipe cleaner over the other end of the tube.
  7. For both ends, wrap access paper over the double side tape to secure it.
  8. Use double sided tape to go round the top and bottom edge of the tube again.
  9. Now warp the Ang Pao that is open-up around the tube.
  10. Use double sided tape to secure at the end.
  11. Mommy cut away access Ang Pao.
Done!

Ang Pao Lantern

Chinese New Year is around the corner. Thought it would be nice to do some Chinese New Year Craft with my boy. I help out quite a bit here because he get bore of repetitive work. Sigh!

This is the very basic of the lantern done with Ang Pao. Outcome is nice.

Materials needed:

  • 12 Ang Paos for the lantern (we are using square ones so it looks nicer)
  • 1 Ang Pao for the lantern decoration
  • Double-sided tape
  • String
How to do it:

  1. Fold 4 corners of the 12 Ang Paos inwards covering the picture. (It will look like a smaller square now)
  2. Join top right with top left corner using double sided tape to secure. It will take 4 Ang Paos to do this.
  3. Repeat the above steps so you have 2 sets; 1 for bottom and 1 for the top.
  4. To do the middle part, join top right corner of (base) Ang Bao on the left with bottom right corner of a new Ang Pao. Then join top left corner of (base) Ang Pao on the right with bottom left corner of the same Ang Pao. (confusing huh? ;P)
  5. Repeat till 4 Ang Paos are secure with the base.
  6. Now stick the top to the earlier completed model.
  7. You should see the lantern taking shape.
  8. If you want to hang that thingy (whatever you call it ;P) below the lantern, cut 1 Ang Pao in shreds leaving 1 cm on the top.
  9. Roll it and secure with tape.
  10. Now mommy use needle and thread to string the deco thingy to the lantern and thread the top too.

Note:
Don't use glue because it will not work with Ang Pao. If your child can handle stapler, use that as it secures the Ang Pao better. You can also use those square memo notes instead of Ang Pao.

*KNS - Ka Na Sai aka like shit

2-D Flower

I did another craft with my son since the earlier craft only took him around 5 minutes to complete. This is also another easy craft.

Material needed:

  • Piece of paper for petals, flower head and leaf
  • 1 ice-cream stick
  • Mounting Tape
  • Crayons or any other colouring medium

How to do it:

  1. Mommy cut out the shape of several petals, flower head and leaf.
  2. Colour the petals, flower head and leaf.
  3. Stick a small piece of mounting tape at the bottom edge of each petal.
  4. Stick the petals to the back part of the flower head.
  5. Stick a small piece of mounting tape on one end of the ice-cream stick.
  6. Stick it to the flower.
  7. Stick a small piece of mounting tape to the leaf and stick it to the ice-cream stick.

The flower will have a 2-D look.

Note:
You can use glue or normal double-sided tape instead of mounting tape.

Shells Butterfly

I kept the shells of the mussels I ate few days ago. Sure came in handy! This is a fast and easy craft. Only took us 5 minutes to do it.

Materials needed:

  • Mussel shells or any shells
  • Pipe cleaners
  • 1 ice-cream stick
  • Scotch tape

How to do it:

  1. Fold pipe cleaner into half.
  2. Curl the tips.
  3. Open the shells and turn over
  4. Place the pipe cleaner in the middle of the shells.
  5. Use tape to secure it.
  6. Place the ice-cream stick over the pipe cleaner.
  7. Use tape to secure it too.
  8. Turn it over and you have a butterfly.

Note:
The mussel shell has a mother of pearl like inside so no further decoration is require. However, go ahead to decorate it if you want to.

Moving on to new stuff

I think it's time for 妹妹 to move on to newer stuff other than English Card. I'm planning to make Chinese Cards and simple Maths equations to try out with her. 爸爸 will want be to buy ready made ones from Popular Bookshop but with the speed 妹妹 is learning, it will cost a bomb. This time, I do hope 哥哥 will be interested to learn too.

See 妹妹's progress after 3 weeks of flashing ...

Sorry, can't stop! Gotta run!

Just see how active 妹妹 is....
