Tag: Why I married my husband?

I was tagged by Nicole on the reasons why I married my man. Must list 10 reasons. Surely there will be more than 10. We have been together for 18 years (8 years courtship + 10 years marriage) now.

  1. We both love the same kind of music and song. He used to play the drums and I used to play the guitar. Some match huh! But never played together before. I did teach him some basic guitar notes and we played together before. Such fun!
  2. We both like rock and roll and cha-cha. We even took lessons together before we were married.
  3. He sings very well mostly Cantonese song because he's a Cantonese. He was twice crowned the Champ in his company's karaoke competitions.
  4. He's sweet. He enjoys going shopping with me and I enjoy going shopping with him too. He doesn't mind going to the lingerie section too. He even bought clothes for me on his own before and it wasn't a bad choice. He buys me flowers till I told him I really don't want them anymore because I find it a waste of money.
  5. He's very hardworking. He did not do well in his studies till much later which he said is too late. He now struggles with his work and studies at the same time. He put in lots of hard work to get to where he is now in his work.
  6. He's a good listener and advisor. My and his friends and my sister always go to him for advise. If he is a woman, he can be Auntie Angie.
  7. He's quick to solve problems. His mind works really fast. If you could see he the way he solve the problems at work, you will understand.
  8. He's confident. Just look at the way he work and the people he has to work with and talk to.
  9. I love his handwriting. It looks like it was printed. If only I could get hold of the building drawings he did. Now everyone depends on the computer, I don't think not much people can hand draw so nicely like him!
  10. He's mature for his age and has great foresight, he's understanding, caring, loving ... you want me to go on ... I'm idolising him now. hahaha! Don't vomit huh!

Looks like I married the best guy on earth! *thick skin* LOL Everyone married their best guy on earth mah ...

I'm tagging Wenzel's Mommy, Kelly, Becky's Mum, My Life Zone and Melissa. So can I kaypoh and ask you why you married your best guy on earth huh?

Add on:
I asked him why he married me, he said his eyes got stuck with stamps!! See lah and I say he's my idol some more. Hahaha!

Tag: My Dream Holiday

Got tagged again. This time by Doris. This tag - very confusing. You know I'm not those who likes to follow rules. I'll do whatever I can lah.

*** Place your 2 -3 paragraph of where you want to go here***

We used to travel once or twice a year when we were married without kids. Been to Bali, Bangkok, Japan, Korea, Australia, Malaysia, took a few cruises and ClubMed too.

We haven't been to anywhere since we have kids. *sob* My dream holiday would be to ... Holland. It has always been my dream holiday since I was a kid. I probably wouldn't really go there because I'm very stingy. I wouldn't want to spend that kind of money. It's not easy to save money with only 1 salary. Well, unless we strike 1st group TOTO with only 1 winner! Then, I wouldn't be only going to 1 place! Hahaha!

Quiz: Who’s Your Celebrity Chef Match?

I took the Who’s Your Celebrity Chef Match? quiz to find out who which celebrity chef I am most like . . . and my celebrity chef match is Emeril Lagasse. I got to find out more about him now. Hehehe ...

Bam! When it comes to whipping up something in the kitchen, you're rarely afraid to kick it up a notch. That's why your celebrity chef match is Emeril Lagasse, the king of notch-kicking. While some may be a little intimidated by cooking and recipes, you tend to have fun in the kitchen (and in life), throwing caution (and sometimes even recipes) to the wind. After all, it's only food.

To you, the most important thing is to have a good time, which is why you probably enjoy sharing your culinary enthusiasm with friends and family. When you do entertain, you have a knack for throwing a little heart into everything you prepare — and there's no better ingredient in the world.

So, what do you think of the results?

I'm here!

It's raining now and thunder can be heard ...
Over heard 哥哥 telling his 妹妹 this ...

妹妹, not scare, not scare hor. It's only thunder. I'm here okay?

Cute!

Don't show me faces!

This is what I ALWAYS get when I try to take pictures of 妹妹.
She kept showing me all sorts of funny faces.
This is her most favourite expression.

Finally, I'm able to get a nice, proper and smiley picture of 妹妹.
I think 爸爸 will be very happy to see this!

Glittering Easter Eggs and Baskets

This is another Easter craft we made today. It has 2 parts, the basket and the eggs. I think this craft is quite common. We did this last year too.

Part I: THE BASKET

Materials needed:
  1. Paper Cup
  2. 1 strip of Cardboard paper, 20cm x 3 cm
  3. Crepe papers
  4. 2 Fasteners
How to do it:
  • Punch 2 holes on the ends of the cardboard strip.
  • Punch 2 holes on the opposite side of the paper cup.
  • Use the fasteners to hold the cardboard strip to the cup, thru the hole.
  • Cut crepe paper into thin strips.
  • Stuff the cup using the crepe paper. That is to cushion the egg later.
Note:
You can colour the cup and handle if you want but my son is too lazy to do it. He just colour the handle (cardboard strip) and left the cup as it is.

Part II: THE EGG

When we did this last year, we painted the eggs. Since my son is older and can handle glitters better we will be using that to decorate the eggs instead of painting it.

Materials needed:
  • Egg
  • Glue
  • Glitters
How to do it:
  1. To remove eggs from shell, gentle make a hole on the top and bottom of shells.
  2. Blow on one end and the egg will be push out from the other end.
  3. Don't waste the egg! Try using them to make Nori Egg Roll with Carrot and Spring Onion.
  4. Make sure you rinse the inside of the egg.
  5. Pour some glitters on a paper plate.
  6. Put glue all over the egg.
  7. Row the egg over the glitters to let the glitters stick to the glue.
  8. Set aside to dry.
  9. When it's dried, put it in the paper cup basket to rest on the nice cushion of crepe paper!
Have fun!

Easter Egg Bunny

Easter in around the corner. As usual, we are sure to do some crafts relating to the festival. What do we have for Easter? Rabbits and eggs! Why not an Egg Bunny?

Materials needed:
  • 1 empty whole egg shell
  • Glue
  • Cotton wool
  • 1 pair wriggle eyes
  • Some cardboard cut into shape of ears, buck tooth (not shown here) and feet
How to do it:
  1. To remove eggs from shell, gentle make a hole on the top and bottom of shells.
  2. Blow on one end and the egg will be push out from the other end.
  3. Don't waste the egg! I'm using it to make Steam Egg Custard.
  4. Make sure you rinse the inside of the egg.
  5. Put glue all over the egg.
  6. Paste cotton wool all over.
  7. Paste the feet at the bottom and the ears on top (but of course lah!)
  8. Don't forget to colour the inside of the ears.
  9. Stick on the eyes and buck tooth.
Now you have a Easter Egg Bunny!

We're jumping up & down and having fun!

This is one of the activities my kids do everyday.
Something they do best.
Jumping and running around.

To teach or not to teach?

My 2 kids are very different in terms of learning. One will make a lot of noise if I don't teach. The other will make a lot noise when I teach. Guess who loves to learn?

But then why both so active huh? Why can't I have one less active kid? This Energizer Bunny Mummy is running out of battery leh!

Dear Santa ...

Dear Santa,

I know it's a bit early to write to you for my Christmas wish. But I was thinking maybe you could bend the rules a bit for me this year. Maybe I can have my Christmas present earlier, like on Easter instead?

You and the reindeers could come here for a holiday and get a tan for a change. It will be fun! You don't even need to bring thick winter clothes. Just wear a sun shirt, shorts, slippers and don't forget the sunglasses too!

Now back to my wish. Could I have a pair of wings, even for just one day? I desperately need to fly away for a break! I'm going bonkers!

So, how is it? Could you fulfill my desperate wish, please!!! You need a break too, don't you?

Hope to see you on Easter Sunday!

With lots of love,
WokkingMum

Tag: I love being 18 (again)

I was tagged by Doris to remind myself it was almost 2 decades since I'm 18 ... so old liao.

Here’s how this meme works:

  • Go to PopCulture site.
  • Pick the year you turn 18 years old.
  • Get yourself nostalgic over the songs that year.
  • Write something about how those songs afffected you.
  • Pass it on to five more friends.

Wow! Look at all the songs in my era! I love it! I was a bit nerdy then lah. Goondo, Goondo one. LOL A daddy's and mommy's good girl, so I didn't go (more like not allowed) to the disco/Hi-tea while most of my classmates would bring clothes to change after school and head straight to Hi-Tea! I danced at home listening to the radio lor. Free some more. LOL

Love these songs, even till now!

  • Love Shack - B-52's
  • Wind Beneath My Wings - Bette Midler
  • Like A Prayer - Madonna
  • All I Want Is You - U2
  • She Drives Me Crazy - Fine Young Cannibals
  • Get On Your Feet - Gloria Estefan
  • Every Little Step - Bobby Brown
  • I'll Be There For You - Bon Jovi
  • Another Day In Paradise - Phil Collins
  • Don't Know Much - Linda Ronstadt & Aaron Neville
  • Eternal Flame - the Bangles
  • Express Yourself - Madonna
  • After All - Cher and Peter Cetera
  • Listen To Her Heart - Roxette
  • I Feel The Earth Move - Martika
  • When I See You Smile - Bad English
  • The Look - Roxette
  • Baby, Don't Forget My Number - Milli Vanilli
  • She Wants To Dance With Me - Rick Ashley
  • A Little Respect - Erasure
  • We Didn't Start the Fire - Billy Joel
  • The Living Years - Mike and the Mechanics
  • Forever Your Girl - Paula Abdul
  • Don't Wanna To Lose You - Gloria Estefan
  • Right Here Waiting - Richard Marx
  • Straight Up - Paula Abdul

I don't have a favourite artiste but the hottest then got to be Madonna, the Queen of Pops!

I don't have a lot of people in my list so I'm tagging only 3 ... Baby Talk, Journey of Life and Just My Thoughts. So which era are you from huh? ^_-

Tag: Who I would like to be stranded on an island with

I kenna tagged again by Angeleyes. She wants me to be stranded on an island with her to share her cooking load wor. Tsk! Tsk! Tsk! But I think we will end up having Sashimi because there won't be any pots and pans there too. LOL.

I think I would want all the mummies in my list to be stranded on the island with me. Hehehe! So we can get to know each other better and have a party there too mah!

I died while shopping ...

Well, I almost died of exhaustion while out getting a gift for 哥哥's ex-classmate's little brother's birthday. It's this Saturday and 爸爸 can't promise he will be back home early so we could all go together to get the gift or I could go on my own after settling the kids to bed. But for the past few days he has been arriving home late. I don't want to go to the party empty handed. So since the weather was good - not raining, I thought I could bring the kids and get a gift on my own. How difficult can that be?

Bad move! I didn't even bring my sarong along because the trip wasn't planned. Double bad move!! Once we reach the toy store, this girl just dashed in, bring down toys from shelves like she was in her own house. Of course I have to pack after her otherwise I might get chase out. I don't even have time to look around.

In the end I bought a gift I found educational (and I'll go get another one for my kids this weekend when 爸爸 is not working) and most importantly, something I can managed to carry home with 2 kids in tow. The only blessing was they did not wail for toys when we left the store. But the trip home was equally bad with 妹妹 jumping about in the taxi. I'm half dead now. I need elixir!

Next time, either bring the stroller or the sarong or stay at home!

New bed for me!

I moved 哥哥's old children bed from the playroom to our room for 妹妹. Her playpen was so torn she could actually roll out of it. Too dangerous. It was a tiring job moving the bed alone plus I got to watch out for the kids. Luckily, I don't have to do this often.

I asked 爸爸 to bring back some planks from his site so I could use it to block up the bed. Otherwise 妹妹 will fall out. I used wallpaper to wrap it. Hehehe ... Nice? Looks like the sky.

I was worried that 妹妹 wouldn't want to sleep in there. I was preparing to sleep with her but she was okay with her new bed. She did move about a lot at first because it's so much roomy now then she quiet down and went to sleep. 爸爸 said to let her have her own room in half a year time. I going to miss the morning wake up calls and smiles then.

妹妹 having a drink before nap time.

Sweet Dreams

哥哥's First Dentist Visit

I have been planning to bring 哥哥 to the Dentist for quite some time. He has this bad habit of biting his toothbrush and his toothbrush need to be replace every 1-2 weeks. And he doesn't brush properly. So I thought bring him to the Dentist and let the dentist talk to him will be more efficient. hahaha ...

His dental appointment was fixed today after school. He was okay for his visit. Maybe he was already mentally prepared. The only thing he wanted was to have me accompanied him in. After the cleaning, he told me to bring him to the Dentist everyday so he can get his teeth cleaned by the Dentist! He said his teeth now - very clean!

I want a new bed

妹妹 somehow managed to get the small tear in the playpen big enough for her legs to stretch out. I do suspect it was with 哥哥's help. This morning while making milk for 哥哥, he came to tell me 妹妹 is stuck. Guess what? She was trying to get out through the tear!
I think it's about time to move the children's bed to the room for 妹妹.

Oneeee, twoooo, treeee ...

妹妹 just love to see the numbers showing up on the lift (floor) display unit. But because we stay on the lower floors she never had the chance to count very much. Today, while using the lift, I press on the highest floor - 16 to let her have the chance to see and count. I think she was very happy because her counting became louder and louder. Luckily, there isn't anyone else except us. She could count to 13! The rest were all something teen. I couldn't understand them! 13 is not too bad!

Ohh, I have always wanted to put this down. 妹妹 can't prononuce the word 'open'. She kept saying p-pen! Hahaha! When I told her, it's Ooo-pen. She would say Oooo.... p-pen. Ai yo! P comes after O. That's why!

Tricycle Fun

Riding the tricycle (at home) has been one of the regular past time for the kids during this school holidays. They want to ride in the morning, afternoon and evening. They had fun but I'm tired because I had to help push them. It was too difficult for 哥哥 to paddle when 妹妹 is sitting on the tricycle too. Luckily, I didn't bring them downstairs to paddle because 妹妹 didn't want to stop and she will scream her lungs out when I said stop. I think this activity will carry on till they either get bore or they find something more interesting.

Self Service

We lunch out today. 哥哥 wanted to eat roti prata and went ahead to order on his own. When the prata was ready, the prata-man gestured me to collect it. 哥哥 offered to get it since I needed to take care of 妹妹. I saw him walking slowing looking at the plate of gravy. He is worried the gravy will spill lah! The way he walked is so comical! Lucky, it wasn't crowded otherwise people will be cursing me for asking a kid to get his own food and blocking the traffic. I think it's good practice for him to prepare him for primary school. Now I have one thing lesser to worry.

Baa Baa White Sheep

I love this craft! It's soooooo cute! I think kids will love it too! I wanted to be cheeky and buy those coloured cotton balls but I couldn't find them in the shops here. So the sheep stays white.

Materials needed:
  • Toilet paper tube
  • 4 cotton buds
  • Cotton balls
  • Tissue paper
  • Scotch-tape
  • Glue

How to do it:
  1. Tape the cotton buds to the tube as legs.
  2. Put some glue on the inside of the tube to hold the tissue paper we will be using.
  3. Use a few tissue paper to stuff the tube, leaving some outside as the face of the sheep.
  4. Dab cotton balls with glue and stick it to the tube.
  5. Repeat till the whole tube is covered with cotton balls.
  6. Use a maker to draw the eyes.

Now you have a woolly sheep! Isn't it cute?

Stick the cotton buds to the tube as legs

Tag: 6 weird or quirky things about me

I was tagged by Irene, Wenzel's Mummy to name 6 weird or quirky things about myself. Wow! I think this is tough. Maybe I didn't think anything about myself is weird.

I think these are weird enough:

  1. I eat durian and strawberry but I don't eat durian/strawberry ice creams, cakes, puffs and kuehs.
  2. I can bear to see my own writing (I think it's not straight), so everything got to be printed where possible.
  3. I need to have bags in bag. 1 big bag with smaller bags and even smaller bags in them. Everything has to be in bags!
  4. The food in my fridge must be in ziploc bags or tupperwares and put on plastic trays.
  5. I can't lean against a wall. I keep thinking the wall will collapse and I'll fall.
  6. I make desserts for the family but I don't eat it myself.
I would love to know 'weird' stuff of MontessoriMum, Sean Our Pride Our Joy and Cutie Princess Mummy

Cooking Joy and Woe

the Skinny Cook featured one of my recipes, Sweet Chicken Wings, on his site again. This is the second time my recipes is being feature there. I was surprised on being asked to feature my recipes because I seriously don't think my recipes are that great to be featured in someone else's site. I have seen some really awesome recipes in the Net. Then Doris did that too. Wah ... these people really give me the booster to continue cooking. My family got to thank them for the dinner they are still having.

Why did I say that? That's because sometimes, the way my family eat their dinner make me feel like giving up cooking all together. It's sad to sometimes having to throw away food. It's like throwing away my time, effort and money.

My son said dinner is nice but he cannot finish his dinner (but at least I don't have to nag at him to take every bite now). My hubby said dinner is nice but cannot finish his dinner too. At times, he just gobble up his dinner. Eat like that can taste meh?

What's wrong with food I cook? My hubby said he's a small eater. I cooked too much that's why he can't finish it. Okay, they are really very very small eaters then. Sigh!

Hugs some more

Remember sometime back I said 妹妹 loves to play the hugging game? Now she not only plays that but she also gives hugs as and when she feels like it, which is quite often. I can be cooking when 妹妹 suddenly turned up, looking up at me with her arms up. And she will be chanting hug, hug, hug ... Of course I have to hug her lah, so sweet! And it's usually finished with a loud 'muak' from her!

哥哥 who doesn't want to lose out to 妹妹, has been giving out hugs too! Good influence huh?

I'm soooo busy lately ..... receiving hugs and kisses! *grin*

Ice Cream Sticks Container

This is the 2nd craft we did yesterday. It's easy and useful. There's two part to the craft if you don't have a container.

PART I
Material needed:

  • Cardboard, our measurements
  • - Main~ h: 14cm X w: 40cm (leaving 2cm for both h & w for joining)
  • - Base~ 10cm in diameter
  • Glue

How to do it:
  1. Join the main cardboard into a cylinder.
  2. Cut one side of the cylinder 2cm from the edge in strips, leaving about 0.7cm thick.
  3. Fold the strips inwards.
  4. Glue the base to the strips.
  5. Wait for it to dry and you have your own container.

PART II
Materials needed:

  • Container, you can use empty plastic milk bottle, cut into desired size or the above self-made container.
  • Strong double sided tape
  • Ice cream sticks

How to do it:
  1. Paste double sided tape on the top & bottom edges and the middle of container.
  2. Stick the ice cream sticks to the container till it's all covered.

Now you can keep you stuff in it.

Door Hanger

We have not being doing crafts since Chinese New Year. I thought of 2 easy crafts (yesterday), so I thought we could do it since it's rather easy.

Materials you need:
  • Cardboard, cut into the the above shape. (if you want the template, email me. I'll send it to you.)
  • Colouring medium (we used colour pencil)
  • Printed alphabets for pasting (you can writing, my boy is lazy to write)
How to do it:
  1. Mommy cut the cardborad into the the above shape. (if you want the template, email me. I'll send it to you.)
  2. Decorate the cardboard anyway you want it. Stickers and ink stamps are other good options.
  3. When you have finished, you can hang it on the door.
Easy?

Can Dragons fly?

We were in the cab, 爸爸 and 哥哥 were talking about today being the last day of Chinese Year. The conversion then led to lion & dragon dances ...

哥哥 : You know, dragons can't fly.
爸爸 : Why?
哥哥 : They are too heavy to fly.
妈妈 : But aeroplane is heavy but it can fly.
哥哥 : That's because aeroplane has wings and propellers mah. (爸爸 & 妈妈 raised eye-brows)

We went ahead to explain briefly how the birds and the aeroplane can fly.

Sometime later, we were back in the discussion of dragons ...

爸爸 : Can dragons fly?
哥哥 : Some can, some cannot.
爸爸 & 妈妈 : Huh?
哥哥 : Chinese dragons cannot fly, they don't have wings. Only English dragons can fly because they have wings mah.
爸爸 & 妈妈 : LOL

Ai yo! So funny!

My favourite activity

Hello! I'm my 哥哥's 妹妹.
Other than running, jumping, climbling and making my 妈妈 run after me,
this is one of my favourite activities - stacking blocks.

See me in action!

Nice and straight.

See! Six blocks! Almost as tall as me sitting down!
Guess what I love to do next?

Weeeeee! Let's do it again!
