I'm one lucky blogger! Why? My food blog has been featured in Time out Singapore! The writer, Ms June Wan, seems to have a particular interest in my kid's meals. *smile*

I'm not sure when this article was out because I couldn't find the date but I just found out today. Looks like I always receive good news on Friday. So I must say, TGIF! *wink*

Thank you, Ms Wan for featuring, Let's get Wokking!, in your article.

Too many words to say ...

哥哥's school's concert is confirmed to be on 18 October. Ooo... I can't wait to see their class performance. It will be sooo cute! I do hope 爸爸 will be able to take leave on that day to enjoy the concert. We enjoyed last year's concert a lot. I bet this year's will be as good.

This was one of the conversation 哥哥 and I had on his class performance recently....

妈妈 : Did you and your classmates practice for the concert today again?
哥哥 : Yes.
妈妈 : Did you become a stone? (Teacher's punishment if he misbehave. No more moving around like a crab. LOL)
哥哥 : No lah! I'm a crab. Good crab (shows me his scissors hands as the pincers), not stone.
哥哥 : 妈妈, you know Parag (his classmate) will tell everyone to enjoy our performance before we start leh.
妈妈 : Really? Wah! He is very good!
哥哥 : Yah.
妈妈 : You talk so well. Why not you say it instead?
哥哥 : I cannot lah. So many words to say. I cannot remember. (me laughing)
妈妈 : A lot to say? Really? Like what? You tell me then I'll know if it's really a lot.

He then began to recite what his classmate would be saying. Then he suddenly stopped.

哥哥 : Eh .... I cannot say. Too many words lah.
妈妈 : But you almost finish. Why you stop now?
哥哥 : I said ..... too many words ..... later I cannot remember.
妈妈 : Oh. You know the words now but might forget is it?
哥哥 : Yes. I be crab enough. Crabs are cute (start walking like a crab).

I think it takes guts to stand in front of a hall full of audience to say (even a short) introduction. And yes, must remember what to say on top of all the dance steps. If it was me, my legs will turned jelly and my tongue will be numb. LOL

Egg Mosaic

I so guilty! I have had time to do crafts with my kids. Sorry guys. Must have better time management.

Anyways, this was done earlier. I had recently started baking and I saved all the egg shells for this craft. I had intended to let my daughter do this but she seems to be only interested in paints and nothing else and so my son did it instead.

Materials needed:

  • Egg Shells, cleaned and dried
  • Assorted food colourings
  • Double-sided Tape
  • Paper
How to do it:
  1. Put a few drop of assorted food colouring on to plastic plates.
  2. Roll the egg shells in them.
  3. Pour the colourings into the shells and swirl around if you want it coated there as well.
Put all coloured shells on a newspaper and let them dry.
  4. Once dried, crush the shells but not into too small a pieces.
  5. Tape your paper with double-sided tape.
  6. Remove the protecting paper of the tape.
  7. Press the coloured shells on the tape to stick them.
  8. Once completed, you'll have a piece of colourful Egg Mosaic and equally colourful fingers. *wink*
Note:
You can tape the paper any pattern you like. Don't have to be a rectangle.

Birthday Dinner

It was 爸爸's birthday yesterday. I bought him a shirt (boring gift but I can't go to far with 2 kids in tow) with the money I earned through advertisement placements in my food blog. Thank you Nuff Nang! This is the first time I buy a gift with the money I earned since I'm a SAHM. I couldn't have done it without Nuff Nang, so give me more ads, okay? Anyway, I saw 爸爸 looking at that shirt a few times when we pass by the shop. So I guess I shouldn't have made a wrong choice even if it was a boring gift lah.

On top of that, I cooked him a sumptuous dinner (sumptuous - I said one lah ... hahaha) a day before his birthday because he said he might need to work late on his birthday. And yesterday, I bake him a cake and made him Longevity Noodles aka Mee Sua. He said his grandma and mother used to cook that for him and his brothers during their birthday so it he was very pleased to eat that ... 有婆婆和妈妈的味道。哈哈哈!

I'm glad the cake turned out rather well because I'm very new to baking and it was only my 5th attempt in baking and my 2nd in cake. I thought I was too ambitious in wanting to add a Ganache Topping and butter icing! I have never tried that. I'm just happy everyone love it.

Yeah, 爸爸 was very pleased with his mini birthday celebration which was held over 2 days.

I just wanna laze around and do nothing.

He is back to his super lazy self again. Haiz. When 爸爸 talk to him yesterday, his cross his line with 爸爸. His attitude was so bad that he was scolded by 爸爸.

So 爸爸, finally you understand what I had been going through everyday. Sometimes I'm just too tired to talk about it. That's only one half of the cause of my tiredness. I need a break.

Bell Pepper Printing

More paint printing craft for my daughter. She just like to play with paint. And once you get her started. She doesn't want to stop.

This is very easy craft. It's like all the other printing craft I did with her. I just made sure I bought a bell pepper with a longer stalk so it's easier for her to hold.

Materials needed:

  • Bell Pepper Top
  • Assorted non-tonxic paints
  • Paper
How to do it:

  1. Use a paper plate to hold the paints.
  2. Dip bell pepper into paint.
  3. Transfer to paper and stamp away.

Air-Con in a cup

We bought the kids to Chinatown on Sunday. I haven't been there for years and it's still as messy with so many upgrading works around.

We went to Yum Cha for lunch. Our first time there and probably would be our last time too. We would rather go to Crystal Jade if we are going to pay those prices for those standard of food. Anyway, I ordered the Mango Sago and it came with dry ice for the smoke effect. The kids were so excited over it, I had to remove the bowl holding the dessert to let them 'play' with the dry ice. The first thing 妹妹 said when she put her hand in the 'smoke' was .... Air-Con!! Haha ... It did felt like air-con. Smart girl. *wink*

We only left when there is no more the 'air-con'. haha ...
