Edible Art - Printed Bread

I have not done any craft with my son lately because we fell sick one after another. Plus the amount of homework and spelling my son has from school. I'm tired after guiding/monitoring him (otherwise his mind wanders off to somewhere else).

I was preparing Tea for my son and I thought why not him do it. Still consider a Craft and I bet my head for this that he will enjoy it. See, I still can post this - my head is still on my shoulders. hehehe~

Materials needed:

  • 1 slice of old (not stale) bread
  • Cookie cutters
How to do it:
  1. Just press the cookie cutters on the bread.
  2. Don't press too hard and cut out the shape. That's not what we want. Just hard enough to get the shape imprinted on the bread.
  3. Toast the bread using a toaster or like us, using frying pan with the bread face down. Not too hot though. Otherwise it will get burnt.
  4. Mommy check and remove bread from frying pan.
  5. Since you can keep this piece of craft, eat it! Remember to scrape the burned part off the bread before eating.
Note:
  • If you don't have cookie cutter, try using a chopstick to 'write' in the bread using slight pressure.
  • I used old bread because it's tougher than fresh ones. It won't be cut through as easily.
  • CAUTION: Only turn on the heat when your kid has put the bread on the pan and leave the stove. Don't allow your kid to monitor the bread. Remember to cool the bread first before letting your kids hold it.

This is what I call edible art!!

* Yummy! I'm eating the craft I did! *
